On Monday 4th September, the bubbledogs Hot Dog Challenge returns, bigger and better than before. To celebrate bubbledogs’ 5th birthday, Sandia is throwing down the gauntlet again to some of the UK’s finest chefs to compete for the title of top dog in our annual Hot Dog Challenge, but at a new location this year, an iconic food destination in its own right, London’s Borough Market. A panel of discerning judges will put their creations to the test in a blind tasting, where one dog will have its day. The winning hot dog will then make a month-long guest appearance on the bubbledogs menu, with £1 of each dog sold donated equally to Action Against Hunger and Red Cross.

Battling it out on the night will be Jonny Lake & Matt Larcombe from The Fat Duck, who are returning to defend their 2016 title, two Michelin-starred chef Tom KerridgeShaun Searley from the Quality Chop House, Magnus Reid of Legs, Tomos Parry former head chef of Kitty Fisher’s, Shake Shack’s Mark RosatiBonny Porter of Balls & Corpany, Ali Borer of Smoking Goat and Kitchen Table’s own James Knappett. Sitting on the judging panel will be Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Jason Atherton, Bloomberg’s longstanding restaurant critic Richard VinesRichard Turner of Hawksmoor, and rock ‘n’ roll restaurateur Scott Collins. Challengers will be working against the clock, with 20 minutes to prepare and serve their hot dog creations using bubbledogs hand rolled buns and house recipe sausages. Tasked with producing the most inspired hotdog toppings, the panel of experts will mark entries out of ten for; taste, creativity, quality and appearance. One dog will then reign supreme whilst the others are left in the dog house. Keeping everything in check will be compere for the evening, one of London’s finest food writers and influencers, Joe Warwick.

To take the edge off the fierce competition, our birthday celebrations will be in full swing throughout the evening in true bubbledogs style, where you will be invited to sip on Champagne and have the chance to taste each entry for the Hot Dog Challenge in canapé form. Music will by no means be in the background with DJ Fizz pumping the tunes.

To make you feel even more fab, your partying will not be going to waste as all profits from the evening will be donated to Action Against Hunger and Red Cross.

Tickets are £35 per person and includes 1 x glass of champagne, taste samples of each chefs entries and canapés throughout the evening.

Doors for the bubbledogs birthday party and Hotdog Challenge open at 6:00pm, judging commences at 7:00pm.
